Thanksgiving has become a highly anticipated tradition for our team after a wonderful American ex-colleague introduced it to us when she was missing home. The team gathered at the Colchester office for a day of food, fun, and festivity. Our theme was street food, and everyone went all out to create a truly global potluck feast. From savory bites to sweet treats, the table was laden with dishes that showcased our culinary skills and our team’s sense of community and creativity.
Highlights included Kieran’s carrot cake featuring carrots fresh from his allotment, Charlotte’s delicious chicken curry, and Mick’s famous beef and soda bread combo. Kerry wowed us with her three-layer Mexican dip, while Chris brought a kick of spice with his beans. Tom C and Joe K whipped up American classics of yams with marshmallows, and Mac and cheese.
Klaudia’s chicken satay skewers, Alex’s burritos, Tom B’s samosas and Vietnamese spring rolls, and Sam’s pulled pork bao buns added to the international flair, while Freya’s brie and cranberry sausage rolls, Lucy’s cheese and pineapple hedgehog, and Jon’s pigs in blankets kept it traditional.
Sweet tooths were more than satisfied with Sarah’s scones, Dave’s wife’s cupcakes, and Sam’s passionfruit cheesecake. This wasn’t just lunch, it was a feast!
The day wasn’t just about food, though. We had some very special guests join the celebration—Mikey, the Chihuahua, and Crumpet, the Spaniel-Beagle mix, melted hearts with their puppy antics. Baby Colin also made an appearance and thoroughly enjoyed being shown around the office by Dave and Chris!
After the feast, it was time for games and some Thanksgiving history. Sam hosted a Catchphrase quiz, while the annual present game brought plenty of laughter, with each gift under £3 and sourced from a local charity shop to keep things more sustainable. Mick rounded out the activities with a great presentation on the history of Thanksgiving, reminding us of the day’s roots.
Our Thanksgiving Team Day was a celebration of connection, culture, and community. From sharing home-cooked dishes to bonding over games and furry (and tiny!) friends, it was a day that truly embodied the spirit of the season. Here’s to many more moments of joy and togetherness with the Footprint Digital family!
